The process of search engine optimization holds the key to make your blog recognized by the Google search bot. An amateur blogger may not know about the essential SEO blog tips or tend to forget while building his blog. As a matter of fact, there are thousands of blog competing to reach out to the readers. Hence, the pressure to remain in the competition is immense.

Starting from creating a blog which would be engaging and attractive, the blogging platforms like WordPress offers a lot of tools and professionally created themes to drag and drop tools that can organize your content in an instant. However, the rest depends on you.

Generally, if you’re using blogging platforms like the WordPress, a fragment of search engine optimization or SEO is already done for you. All thanks to the development team of WordPress. However, there are certain significant points that you must take into account while running your own blog. Now this article discusses some of the basics and to move on to some of the most advanced methods and techniques.

Title Tags

<Title> tag is one of the most important aspects of the blog which should never be ignored. The main targeted keywords for your website/blog must be included in title tag and the length of the title tag should fall between 60 to 90 characters.

Search engine spiders always look through the titles while seeking for the relevant content. In WordPress, title tags are generally formed by the name of the blog which can be found in the Options menu in the wp-admin section.

URL keywords

You must be sure that your keywords stand prominent in the blog links. In this regard, WordPress saves a lot of hard work by offering custom permalink feature thereby allowing you to select the most suitable link structure as per your needs.

Keyword in Heading Tags

This is yet another important place where your primary keywords of the blog play a significant role. When you’re using WordPress, these tags would be commonly used in post titles (<h2>tags). Keep in mind that your post content must also have those particular keywords that you have already used in the post titles.

Keyword Density

Be sure that the main keywords that you use in your posts or document are of the right quantity and not overused. For all your major keywords, the density must not be more than 7 percent of the total text.

Keyword synonyms

Many a times, search engines seek synonyms of search terms. Therefore, it will be a great idea to optimize website or blog for synonyms of your main keywords as well.

Keywords in the Image Tags

When you are using images in your posts or documents, you must always specify the all text for the same. The search engine spiders cannot see images, however, they can index their textual descriptions specified in the <alt> tags. This method is even used for the validation purposes

Sitemaps

If your blog or website has an accessible sitemap, then all the pages will be indexed by the search engines very promptly. You can even submit the sitemap for your site at the Google Website Tools.

Broken Links

You must keep on checking the links placed on your website regularly to check if they do not point to the resources which are no longer present there. If you do have broken links, then search engines will devalue the website rapidly.

Linking from the related websites

In search engine optimization, inbound links are always counted as healthier if they are coming from the related or similar websites. This generally shows that the competing websites in the niche have votes for your website and this in turn makes your site popular in the relevant community.

Inbound links

The inbound links are good for your blog and the older inbound links is considered better for your own website. You need to take care that you do not get too many inbound links at a single point of time as that will alert the search engines and make them think that you are actually buying links which a strict no-no these days.

I recommend also tracking website's position by keyword and compare the rankings with competition - this action brings a lot of knowledge what you need ti improve, which keywords have an impact on your positions, it's also a great starting point even if you starting AdWords campaign - I use <a href="http://colibritool.com/?com1">Colibri Tool</a> and it's a great tool to manage all this things!
